Wandaliz Marrero

LMHC, NCC

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 20 years of experience working in high-pressure environments where individuals are navigating complex, real-life challenges. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and have been providing clinical services since 2005. My background includes crisis work, suicide risk assessment, and supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations, including personality patterns, depression, and anxiety, while helping clients develop practical strategies to better manage stress, gain a sense of control, and improve emotional regulation.

I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Brooklyn, New York, which has shaped my understanding of culture, family dynamics, and the complex experiences many individuals navigate. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations, including children, families, and refugee communities, which has further informed my culturally responsive approach.

Currently, I work with adults navigating high levels of stress, including individuals in high-responsibility roles and other therapists. I have also supported therapists in managing professional demands and, in some cases, transitioning into private practice. Clients often come to me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or internally conflicted, even if on the outside they appear to have things under control.

I believe in advocacy for those who need their voices to be heard.

A big part of my professional experience has been in working with juveniles and adults in corrections, all ages in community clinics, with adolescents involved in delinquent behaviors at home and school, various drug and alcohol groups, with individuals who were suffering from psychotic disorders, and as a clinician at a refugee facility.

Anyone from any walk of life or background has value and deserves care and compassion.

Thank you for taking the time to read about making changes in your life through therapy. I hope that you feel connected and are ready to start the process. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Kindly,

Wanda
